Downtown Revitalization Project (DRP)

Educate.Innovate.Renovate

The Downtown Revitalization Project (DRP), formerly known as Digital River Project, is a group comprised of numerous dedicated community members and focuses on renovating the downtown area.  The group has assisted numerous businesses in downtown Gallipolis with the development and  renovation of their facilities.  The group is also responsible for bringing business and tourism to the area, and, this past year, hosted the second annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament called the Hoop Project.

Established in 2012, the mission of DRP, is to create an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship through assistance with business development initiatives and quality of life enrichment for those living in Gallia County. The main purpose of DRP is to reinvigorate downtown Gallipolis for the community by assisting start up businesses and revitalizing the existing businesses downtown. The group is entirely funded through private donations.

The organization, founded in 2012, was born from the idea to recruit high tech industry to Gallia County. The group was dedicated to the recruitment of high tech industry, supporting a community of innovation and entrepreneurship in Gallia County and fostering an overall revitalization of downtown Gallipolis through assistance to potential businesses.  Within the first year, DRP gained much community support and were able to assist in the launch of two new businesses in downtown Gallipolis.  Additionally, the group was instrumental in helping to provide wireless internet in the Gallipolis City Park which is provided by JB Nets. Additional projects and events sponsored by DRP include: The Hoop Project, B&E Shoe Repair, Creative Arts Lifestyle, Crossfit Gallia, The French Art Colony's Riverby Theatre Guild, Rivery City Leather, The Colony Club,  Gallia County Artisan Market, Sprinkle & Pop, Boardroom 46, French City Academy, and Gallia Fitness Company.

The Downtown Revitalization Project also sponsors a variety of community activities including the River Rat Festival, the Price is Right, and the Paw Patrol Pary in the Park.

The DRP has been recognized by the Ohio Economic Development Association with the 2015 'Excellence in Volunteerism Award, and by the the Gallia County Chamber of Commerce with the 2014 'Community Involvement Award'.
